Who we are

The Frederick Jazz Society is a community-driven organization dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and promoting jazz in Frederick and beyond. Through live performances, education programs, and cultural events, we bring people together to experience the energy, creativity, and soul of jazz. Whether you’re a lifelong fan, a musician, or new to the genre, we invite you to join us in keeping jazz alive—one note at a time.

Founded in 2025 by Eric Byrd of The Eric Byrd Trio, the Frederick Jazz Society was born from a vision to create a thriving jazz community in Frederick County. Recognizing a need for more opportunities to experience and learn jazz locally, Eric and a group of passionate musicians and supporters came together to establish a space where jazz could flourish. From intimate jam sessions to large-scale concerts, the society quickly became a hub for jazz lovers of all backgrounds.

Today, the Frederick Jazz Society continues to expand its impact through live performances, educational workshops, youth programs, and community partnerships. We are committed to making jazz accessible to everyone, fostering the next generation of musicians, and ensuring that this timeless art form remains a vital part of Frederick’s cultural identity. Whether you want to attend a concert, take part in a workshop, or support our mission, there’s a place for you in the Frederick Jazz Society.
