Much like great jazz musicians, exceptional leaders thrive not by controlling every note but by listening, responding, and adapting in real time. This talk draws powerful parallels between the improvisational, collaborative world of jazz and the evolving demands of leadership today.
Through concepts like syncopation as a metaphor for adaptability, call-and-response as a model for authentic communication, and ensemble collaboration as a guide to building resilient teams, this session inspires leaders to think differently. The Frederick Jazz Society wants YOU to participate in our first-ever Jazz Collective. This meeting is for anyone who wants to see Jazz thrive in and around Frederick County. If you are a director of a school jazz band or a performer of jazz music, how can we support each other? How can we all grow an audience? Where can we find out information about where to see jazz performed?

A favorite of Weinberg Center audiences, enjoy music from jazz legends like Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane, with special guest collaborations.
The Eric Byrd Trio, comprised of pianist/vocalist Eric Byrd, bassist Will Hazlehurst, and drummer Alphonso Young, Jr. will play a repertoire to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month and the legends of jazz that have helped shape the genre. Enjoy the music of Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and more. They’ll also invite some special guests to collaborate with them.

An acclaimed Italian-American jazz singer-songwriter, she is known for her timeless voice and captivating blend of traditional and contemporary jazz.
This acclaimed Italian-American jazz singer-songwriter is celebrated for her timeless voice and captivating performances. Based in the D.C. area, Dominique has received numerous accolades, including “Best Jazz Artist” at the 2023 Wammie Awards. Her music blends traditional jazz with contemporary sounds, creating a unique and fresh style. With her debut EP “I’m All Smiles” gaining attention, Dominique continues to enchant audiences at prestigious venues and festivals nationwide.

DMV Jazz Series: The Warren Wolf/Allyn Johnson Experience
A renowned multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Wolf is known for his expertise on the vibraphone, drums, and piano, and teaches at both Peabody and San Francisco Conservatories.
Warren Wolf, a multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Maryland, began his musical journey at age three. Trained on vibraphone, drums, and piano, he studied at Peabody Preparatory and Baltimore School for the Arts before attending Berklee College of Music. Mentored by Caribbean jazz vibraphonist Dave Samuels, Warren became a prominent figure on the Boston music scene. Now an international touring artist and music professor, he teaches at Peabody Conservatory and San Francisco Conservatory.
